Chino explains why “Gore” – Deftones’ new album working title – has been delayed

“The guy [Matt Hyde] who started—who recorded the record with us—had mixed it, but at the time, we had finished the record and then we went and started doing some shows. So we weren’t around while it was being mixed.

So, when we got off tour we listened to it and went ‘ahh, let’s try something else’—so we tried someone else, who was great, but didn’t record the record. So there was a lot of the nuance and things from the recording that were missing. So we ended up going back with Matt Hyde, who initially recorded the record.”

As recently confirmed by guitarist Stephen Carpenter, the album is now headed for an April 08th release date. Thus far the band have announced some dates behind it, including this Texan tour.
