Deftones Live @ Event Centre San Jose, CA. October 26, 2003 WWW.DEFTONESWORLD.COM This was the third show that DEFTONES played in the Bay Area this year. Ans it was the best. The last two shows werent to long. A set of 45 minutes. This show was simply the best that I,ve seen. Missed Poison the Well, and Clutch was not that exciting, in my opinion. As soon as Clutch was finished, my friends and I made our way to the floor level. The event center is not a big place. Just ideal for A DEFTONES show. After waiting 30 minutes the lights went out. Stef walked out. His silhoute was visible. He played a soft note for awhile. Chino and the rest of the band walked out. Chino played the intro for Minerva the lights hit and the whole place was alive. Bloody Cape was next and there were several pits going already. Be Quiet and Drive came next. By this time the whole crowd went nuts. My Own Summer kicked in; this just added to the mayhem. I jumped in the biggest pit. And got hit pretty bad on my left arm after landing on the floor several times. I was somewhat buzzed and didnt really care. The pit was insane but we were all watching out for each other. MX followed and it was beautiful. Bored was next and once again mosh pits everywhere. Digital Bath calmed the atmosphere, and it was a good time to catch a breath. Seconds after Stef started the intro for Feiticeira. Mascara followed. Both sounded great. Around the Fur came after. Chino and Chi said a few comments, thanking everyone from the Bay Area. And also said a few words about the mosh pits. Intro for Needles and Pins followed. I love this song, and a great treat to hear it live. I made my way within five feet of the stage. The whole band was visible before my eyes. It was great to scream out loud the lirycs to this song. Chino was all over the stage and in front of the fans as well. Chino got his guitar and Battle Axe came up. Hexagram was awesome. A short break followed. Head Up lit the place up once more. Chino picked out a fan to scream out the last words. Change came in and calmed the place a bit. Afterwards the Intro for Korea hit. Pitch darkness for a second, a few lights afterwards and the entire crowd on the floor was alive. Mosh pits everywhere. Seven words came on. Half the people on the floor level were part of a massive pit. It was "sweet an ruthless". Great song to finish the set. Troughout the whole show Chino was talkative. There was a moment in which him and Abe were pretending to "break up", Abe took off and appeared a few seconds later. Steph was smoking joints whenever he got a chance between songs. All in all it was an awesome show. Heres the set list: Minerva Bloody Cape My Own Summer Mx Bored Digital Bath Feiticeira Mascara Around the Fur Needles & Pins Battle Axe Hexagram Head Up Change Korea 7words Luis (Bean) E. --------------------------------------------- By far, this was the best Deftones show that I have ever seen, and the first time that they headlined a show. Clutch was okay, could have been better and a shorter set would have been nice. This may sound crazy, but seeing the Deftones is like a religous experience. When they started with Minerva with a red backdrop, it was sensual and a beautiful experience, then shit hit the fan and mayhem ensued. It was a great show, espically for me when I threw my greasy, ragged Pizza Hut shirt up twords the front and Chino caught it and gave it to Chi and he wore it the rest of the set. That was so fucking awesome. If somehow, someone of the Deftones reads this, Thank you for a great show and get back to Seattle soon. Big Stevie !
