12-14.Adrenaline medley: Minus Blindfold [or Engine No. 9]/Root/7 Words
So just 4 weeks have passed since I saw the Deftones at Rock im Park, and dare I say it...
they actually sounded better, and played a more interesting set list! It was surprising that they
played non-singles given it was a major festival, and also the fact that they started with Beware the Water!
They played very tightly, and them throwing in Rx Queen defintely got a big cheer from all those
White Ponly fans out there! It certainly gave me hope of getting to see more not-so-commonly-played
WP stuff like Knife Prty or god forbid...Passenger! My wish was granted one song later when Stephen
started the opening riff to Knife Prty...I didn't even recognize it initially..probably because I didn't fathom
the thought...when I did though after Abe's solid drumming kicked in I was probably the only one around
me who screamed with delight! My favourite fucking Deftones song of all time...SIGH!!! Needless to say,
it was awesome and although we didn't get to see them play Passenger with Maynard afterwards
(people started chanting PAS-SEN-GER), we did get a Cure cover! Chino quirped that Mr. Keenan might
be annoyed because he was sleeping and then said "Let's see if we can wake him up" before starting If
Only Tonight We Could Sleep)
After Change, Chino announced there would be one more song...Chi then took the mic and thanked the
audience, mentioning that Roskilde was the first festival they played at..they launched into an Adrenaline
medley that finished expectedly with 7 Words and some cool visuals on the multiple screens on-stage to
go with the hypnotic riff of that song...
All I can say after that is, I hope I am here in the Northern hemisphere long enough to catch them on their
Fall tour following the release of the new album!
peace out,
Deep
