American cross-over band Deftones rocked the Arenele Romane in Bucharest on Sunday in
front of 2,500 people who came to see the band that is considered to be a pioneer of the genre.
The crowd sang along to the band's most famous songs, such as "My Own Summer (Shove It)"
and "Change (In the House of Flies)." Romanian band Coma, one of the concerts' six opening acts,
played only three songs, but it was enough for fans to warm up for what was to come. One of the two
Coma frontmen, Dan Costea, said the band was more than honored to sing in the opening of a
concert that is a dream come true for the fans. Deftones started their concert around 10 p.m.
after six bands, from Romania, Hungary and Macedonia, played in the opening of the concert.
The performances started at 6 p.m. and the opening acts lived up to their expectations.
The first to take the stage was Romanian band Godmode, while the audience was still gathering for the event.
Each of the acts had their respective fans, as the crowds near the speakers perceptibly shifted at every shift
on stage. Crize's fans followed and sang along with the Romanian act. At the end of Crize' performance,
more rock fans took the floor as Implant pentru Refuz followed. Even though they played only a few songs,
the fans moved to the music and sang along to the bands revolutionary lyrics. The fans wanted an encore,
but the band could not respond to the demand, as the spotlight of the show was a few acts away.
Hungarian act Subscribe had a remarkable performance, as the two vocalists sent a rush of adrenaline to the crowd.
Subscribe even performed a cross-over parody of the Doors' "The End," which was to the liking of the audience.
Point Blank of Macedonia had the toughest job, performing before the main show, but they were certainly
prepared for the challenge. The vocal was flawless and the band's music had obvious Deftones influences.
After a hip-hop and R&B sound check that bewildered the crowd, the band from Sacramento,
California hit the stage. A sea of hands lifted in the air to welcome the artists.
The seats emptied as the public tried to get as close to the stage as possible, to imbibe the adrenaline of
the music. Deftones front man Chino Moreno sat on a platform during the songs.
When he approached the public the crowd exploded into cheers as they were expecting the
vocalist to stage dive, but Moreno continued singing, while fans reached out to him.
The audience danced, singing along with the artists, crowd surfing in the red light that covered the arena.
The site looked more like a coliseum designed for gratifying people's passions for music.
Deftones' songs ran the gamut, as usual, due to Moreno's versatile voice, from delicate harmonies to
hardcore sounds that sent the audience into a different world.
The fans crossed from utter rapture upon seeing the rockers in person, to being taken over by the music,
which combines hard rock instrumentals with turntables. The Deftones sounded as clear and accurate
as the music on their albums and proved they deserve to be among the forefront of the genre alongside
another American band with which they have previously shared the stage, Korn. The Deftones concert
put Bucharest on the hardcore map, as the artists' performance was encompassed in a tour that included
world known festivals of the kind such as Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in Germany. And, as one of the
opening bands said Sunday, the stars did shine brighter that night.

powerful and every song was perfectly played. The show was loud and kicked ass. When chino came
to the ppl..man..was that cool.Seeing one of my favourite bands perform,it was a dream come true.
I hope this is the right setlist:

-Beware the Water
-Hexagram

-Nosebleed
-Around the Fur
-Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)
-Mascara

I was a bit upset that they had to cut it short and had to end the show without playing Digital Bath.
But hey, that's how things work in Romania. Also the crowd was a bit small, the entire place wasn't full with ppl.
But I am more than happy because the show worthed everything.I hope to see deftones soon in another
show and i'm really excited about the up coming album.Peace!

Just came back from my first ever Deftones show and I still can't believe it.
It was by far the best concert I've seen in my life.
The only things that made it less than perfect were the audience
(only 3.000 people showed up in a 6.000 capacity arena) and the sound quality,
which was kind of below my expectations. Other than that, everything was awesome.
The band was in great shape, they played for an hour and a half and
I got to listen to everything I wanted.
All their hits were there, but we also got some surprises, like "Passenger",
a song they didn't play in their last few concerts.
Chino was great, he was jumping around the whole concert,
he came in the audience for "Hexagram" and "7 Words", and his singing
& screaming was top notch. "Headup" finished their set, and then they came
back for a short encore. It was short because the location where the show was
played has this stupid rule that all shows must end at 11 pm. So they played "Change"
and "Korea"; then Chino said "We have a few more songs to play for you", then he looks at
his watch, it was 10.58, "Oh shit, we only have time for one more song".
So they only played "7 Words", not the famous medley I keep hearing about.
But it was a loud & angry "7 Words", that ended up an impressive performance.
this was the setlist - I don't guarantee it's the correct order, but I think all songs are there:
Feiticeira
My Own Summer (Shove It)
Beware the Water
Hexagram
Bored
Nosebleed
Around the Fur
Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)
Mascara
When Girls Telephone Boys
Bloody Cape
Passenger
Minerva
Knife Prty
Headup

Change (In the House of Flies)
Korea

Congrats Deftones for a great show - hope you'll drop by Romania again someday. ;)

"Deftones - first time in Romania. It's truly amazing that the band came to my small country in Eastern Europe.
I have been waiting for 5 years and had no hopes it would ever happen, but it did.
It was my third time at a Deftones concert (first two in New York and Minneapolis). I have to say that this was the best ever.
I did some research and read posts here about tracklists, but it was not the way I expected it.
The tentative tracklist:
1.Feiticeira
2.My Own Summer
3. Beware of the Water (the new song they are promoting)
4. Hexagram
5. Drive
6.When Girls Telephone Boys
7.Around the Fur
8. Knife Party
9. Minerva
10. Bloody Cape
11. Mascara
12. Change
13. Head Up
14. 7 Words - not the mix with Birthmark people mentioned in previous shows.
The first two songs made the venue shiver in excitement. There simply isn't any other band in the world that can do that with two songs.
Chino was really into it. The sound was amazing, they were completely synchronized.
Chino mentioned Chi was a little sick, but he played flawlessly.
Chino came into the crowd during Hexagram and the place exploded again.
I am truly proud to have seen people singing along and proving they were not there just to jump around and ram others.
If you get a chance to see the band live in the near future do not hesitate, they are in great shape and European tours are few and far between."
All the best from Romania,
Razvan
