Deftones @ Provinssirock (Seinajoki, Finland) Saturday 17.6.2006
"Taking a ride, with my best friend".
Drove 300km with my friend to finally see the Deftones play live, and it
sure was worth it.
Hot as hell it was in the pit as we waited and it only got hotter as the
guys started playing.
Man was I excited even watching the crew do the soundcheck, but as the band
came out, can't even describe it.
Stephen's guitars could've been a little louder but on and all the sounds
were awesome.
Frank's bit on the chorus of WGTB wasn't that loud that it seemed on the
videos from Pinkpop and RAR. I liked it more louder.
At points Chino seemed a little tired I think, also he didn't come to the
crowd, which was a minor disappointment.
Chino's singing was great though, and that's the main thing. And the band
seemed happy playing and it seemed that they were having a lot of fun.
Abe's drumming was accurate and beautiful. Chi was connecting with the crowd
the best and the most, what a cool guy he is, as the rest of the fellas.
I was probably the only one who was singing along to Beware (sounded great
live, can't wait for the album) and to the Adrenaline songs
but still a lot of people sang along with the rest of the songs. Much
respect to all the people rocking out on Chi's side.
Truly a great show, I was sweating like a pig from all of the jumping and
pushing.
Also saw Soulfly on Sunday. A really cool and a loud show that was. Max knew
how to take his audience. :)
What a great weekend, money well spent. Tired (hence the spelling) but
happy. Definitely the high-point of the summer.
Here's the Deftones setlist: (should even be the correct order, hopefully I
remembered it right)

MOS
Hexagram
Beware
BQAD
WGTB
If only tonight we could sleep (the Cure cover)

finnish humor-music) :)

Much love Deftones! See you next time, hopefully someday get a chance to
