Deftones live at Bryce Jordan Center

I went to the Deftones show at State College, PA and it was beyond words but what else
do you expect. During their performance Chino was moving all around the stage keeping
the fans happy. He crowd surfed twice, first during My Own Summer and all was well.
However, the second time things got a lil' rough. He came over to the left side of the
stage to sing nosebleed which was great because i was right there. Everyone around him
was singing along going nuts hands in the air. Then someone tossed him a White Pony flag
and he put it on as if it were a cape and we all knew was was next as he looked off into
the crowd. Well Chino went to surf but he went under. I did the best I could to keep him
up but I don't know what everyone else was doing because before I knew it Chino's head met
mine. The collision split my head open but it's all good how many people can say Chino
split their head open right. Chino must have been dazed after the fall and dropped his mic
but i grabbed that up and was hopping to hand it back to Chino but before I knew it a
security guy took it back. After all of that Chino said something to the effect of "I hit
my head real hard but it don't fukin matter." In the end all I got to say is what a show.
Deftones greatest band in the world no doubt.

I went to the Deftones show in State College, PA and what can I say....
It was amazing. But firstly, the opening acts. I got there at the end of
Dredg so I didn't get to hear them, but they looked alright. The lead singer
did this crazy thing with what looked like a big piece of plastic, where he
would pick up and SLAM it onto what I'm guessing was a guitar on top of a table,
then slide it along to make some weird noises. Interesting stage setup (twisted
pieces of wood?). Next up was Breaking Benjamin, who actually surprised me.
I had never heard of them before, but they sounded great. Lead singer had a funny
expression when he went to scream though, haha. Cold was alright, I only knew two
of their songs (Stupid Girl, Just Got Wicked), and they rocked out for a while.
Drummer = crazy. Finally. Deftones.

Deftones put on an excellent performance. Chino kept hopping back and forth between
each side of the stage, where he could get close to the crowd. He crowdsurfed twice,
the first time (during bloody cape or my own summer? sometime early) he was alright,
but the second time he was too heavy and the crowd dropped him! He fell and said
something along the lines of "I hit my head, but it doesn't fuckin' matter.
I'm alright"...forgive me if i screwed up the quote. Anyways, some higlights to the
evening, definitely Around the Fur, Headup, and Hexagram. During hexagram chino went
INSANE. Definitely some of the loudest screams i've ever heard. Overall it was probably
the best deftones concert i've ever been to. I was disappointed in the crowd, however...
there wasnt tooooo much energy coming from the crowd during deftones performance
(no gigantic mosh pits, etc...), but they sure surfed a hell of a lot of people
(i've got the bruises on the back of my head to prove it). After 7 Words I was screaming
for an encore, but I guess I was the only one who wanted one, everyone else just left.
Oh well, great show.

Deftones tore up the place at State College, PA. The first band that went up
(Dredg) were ok, not too bad but nothing impressive. The second band, Breaking
Benjamin, I somewhat liked. Then, Cold was up. I hate to say this, but Cold was
boring as hell. Finally, Deftones walked on stage.. they put on an intense,
great show (not that I expected anything less). During one of the songs, when
he dove into the pit someone handed him the banner with the White Pony on it
and he held it around his neck like a cape. After the show, me and a few fans
waited around for two hours until Chino came out. Even though he could only
hang around for a few minutes because Deftones have a long drive ahead, it was
still great. He signed stuff and answered questions for the fans. Someone asked
why Chino skipped over Korea, and Chino said something along the lines of when
the playlist was being copied over he simply forgot to add it. Another fan asked
if Chino sang in falsetto during the high parts of Digital Bath and he said he
normally did, but not tonight because his throat wasn't feeling well.
I asked Chino what happened to Team Sleep, he said that Team Sleep is releasing
a cd this spring (either that or next year.. I'm pretty sure he said this spring).
The show was amazing and worth the four hour drive.

Hey just got back (5 hr drive home!) from seein the deftones out at State
College in PA. Well first off, the other bands were pretty good. I'm a
cold fan and I must say that they've played better shows before, but all
the bands on the bill put on a good performance. Ok now to deftones...
Deftones came ready to play and came out much happier than they have been
on their Summer Sanitarium shows. They opened with Minerva and the crowd
got on its feet and quick. After Chino put his guitar down, he quickly made
his way to the crowd and hopped right on in there. He always seems to go into
the right side of the crowd and not the left, but later in the show he came on
our side and no shit right in front of me. He let me and then some other guy
behind me sing the ending to Nosebleed, while he grabbed everyone's hand and
then made a dive and found his way on the floor. It was insane. It was a very
good crowd there too. After the show I got their setlist, and I then got it
signed by Chino who came out for 5 mins before the band left the arena.
Only Chino came out and he was surprisingly sober and absolutely thrilled to
talk and sign shit for the few that remained.
It was definitely an added treat. Here is the setlist, that they gave me.
1. Minerva
2. Bloody Cape
3. My Own Summer
4. Be Quiet and Drive
5. Mascara
6. Around the Fur
7. Headup

Deftones put on a hell a show at State College, PA. Very tight setlist.
The sound was tremendous. I've been been a huge fan since the Adrenaline
Tour with Human Waste Project years ago and they've still kept that same
passionate performance. I was not really happy with the opening bands other
than Dredg (who was amazing). Breaking Benjamin was crappy, and Cold was all
right. But Deftones made the evening worth while. Between songs the crowd
quieted down so much that the band could hear everything said...
so I screamed SLAYER and DEPECHE MODE a few times. Why, I don't know.
So basically the show was kick ass, the 'TONES haven't lost any of their
gusto, which I never think they will.
My only dissapointment was not getting to meet them after the show. Why Why Why
