The show was excellent. A complilation of 18 songs that filled the House Of Blues
with delight. I saw them about a year ago when they came through Orlando (was at
Hard Rock) and both performances were top-notch, but this show was the winner.
Starting off with Hexagram is how you begin a show! Change was amazing tonite,
just had the right mood. I was looking forward to hearing Damone and the Cure cover,
and the 'tones did not disappoint. They rolled through the rest of the set without a
hitch, only pausing inbetween songs to chat with the crowd or take a quick breather
before beginning the next one. Chino didn't seem too wasted which was nice...
he added his Dave Chapelle "WHAT?!" remarks from time to time, and made fun of Chi.
Abe was quiet but did his thing, always on point. Stef did a little solo jamming
action during the encore break: nice work with the strobes overhead. It's hard to
pick a favorite song of the night because they were all good. If I had to pick one
I'd say Birthmark because it was on my list of 3 songs to hear (Birthmark, Needles
and Pins, and Korea), so at least they played one of them. My girlfriend was mad
they didn't end up playing Knife Prty: she's been wanting to hear it since last year,
when they didn't play it either! All in all we had a blast. Thanks to the guys for
putting on another excellent show. I advice everyone to get tix to this short tour,
it's worth it.

Though I had only heard of this show on tuesday, I managed to pull together adequate
cash and a licensed chauffer in time to make yet another memorable evening with the
only band I would rob my mother at gunpoint to see live. Due to misdirection by our
enebriated navigator we were over an hour late and missed the opening acts, though
while I was waiting at the door for my pals to come through security I heard the end
of the second band, and don't feel like we missed much. But on to the show... If you
are the casual deftones fan, content to listen to their cd's on your surround sound
home theater turned up to ear-splitting volume and feel like you are getting the full
effect, please be aware that you couldn't possibly be more wrong. There isn't a live
bootleg in the world that holds a candle to the actual performance of these musical
muses. In stark contrast to most live acts, whose stage performances are a bit pale
(and in some cases downright disappointing) in comparison to their engineered studio
efforts, the deftones thrive in the raw heat of their fans' adulation. To a packed
House of Blues crowd, the deftones played their hearts out, hitting the high notes
of all their albums, and throwing in a couple of rare gems for good measure. Of the
three shows I had previously seen, I never heard them play 'Can't Even Breathe'
(one of my very favorites) but we were treated to that along with a fantastic
rendition of Birthmark; and the entirety of their set was done with precision and
inimitable style. After months upon months of touring, I have to say there wasn't as
much of a playful element to their stage presence as I saw last November at the Hard
Rock Live, but there was at least as much heart in their playing and at least as much
passion in their presence. How else can you make a ten year old song sound brand new
each and every time? Also, for any female fans who think that Chino Moreno is God's
gift to women (like myself: that angelic voice! that cherubic face!), their year of
touring has had an enormously positive effect: turning chubby, beer-all-day Chino
into the lithe, supple, gorgeous-with-his-shirt off Chino we all fell in love with
years ago. Overall it was a phenomenal show, due in no small part to the excellence
of the venue, and the deftones perpetual eagerness to please. They have once again
raised standard for live entertainment. Four Stars!
