Deftones Live
September 16th 2003 "Rock City" - Nottingham, UK
www.deftonesworld.com
Went to go see Deftones last night (my second Deftones gig) to celebrate my 21st.
Wow, what a show!!! I swear those guys get a kick out of playing the smaller venues
- when i saw them last at Manchester Apollo they were a bit lacklustre and static,
but last night the energy/adrenalin was flowing - Chi was all over the stage,
jumping up and down, Chino was even more animated than usual, with a massive grin
on his face the whole time and encouraging audience participation, even Frank had
a smile on his face and was headbanging a bit! Of course, needless to say, the pit
was insane - busy nursing my bruises as i type. The setlist, in no particular order
(and probably missing a couple of songs i can't remember):
Be Quiet And Drive
My Own Summer
Minerva
Hexagram
Dai The Flu
Elite (Oh yes!)
Change
Bored
Engine No. 9
Battle Axe
Lifter
Feiticiera
Bloody Cape
7 Words (Accompanied by the obligatory pit explosion)
Aound The Fur
Root
Roll on the next time they play the Rock City!

I managed to remember the setlist. It went something like this: (I am not 100%
if the encore is right)
1. Be Quiet & Drive (Far Away)
2. My Own Summer (Shove It)
3. Hexagram
4. Minerva
5. Feitceira
6. Elite
7. Bored
8. Bloody Cape
9. Battle-Axe
10. Lifter
11. Root
12. Change (In The House Of Flies)
13. 7 Words
Encore Break
14. Dai The Flu
15. Around The Fur
"7 Words" got a great reaction as Chino asked everyone if they want a new song or
7 words. I had heard good and bad things about Deftones live but I thought they
were excellent, probably the best show I've seen. I was most looking forward to
Be Quiet and Drive and was glad they played that. During one song Chino drifted
into a verse from Gorillaz "Clint Eastwood". Overall an excellent show would
certainly go again.
