Taste of Chaos - Friday, March 10, 2006 Niagara Falls, NY The Dome Theater Let me just start off by saying that last night was the single best/worst night of my life, all at once. Me and my friend Tristan got to the Dome Theater at 12:00am when we knew doors didn't open until 4:30pm, so naturally we were one of the first few there. After waiting HOURS until finally getting in line, we were SO pumped about Deftones, with this being our first show of theirs. I've been the biggest fan around Rochester (my hometown) for quite some time, so you can imagine the horrible feeling that I got when I reached for my ticket and it...wasn't there. I searched everywhere, high and low, every pocket, asked hundreds of people, but no luck. I was literally crying in Tristan's car when by some chance created by God, a scalper came by asking if we needed tickets. I got a replacement for $71 (I'd spend $1,000,000 for Deftones), and we were IN!! I don't mean to repeat what everyone else has been posting, but none of the other bands really did anything for me. Street Drum Corps were awesome, but they were before Deftones, so I just wanted their set to be over. Story of the Year had SO much energy and did some funny things, like the guitar player pulling his cock out and attempting to strum with it, but their music wasn't too great. Thrice started off good but got really slow and trippy, which ruined them. That's about all I have to say for the other bands, even though they all did their thing and I give them respect. FINALLY after Street Drum Corps was over, "I Only Have Eyes For You" came on the speakers, and I knew what was coming. Tristan and I got a spot very close to the stage on a deck type of thing, so I could see everything that went on. Deftones stormed the stage to a huge reaction and jumped right into "Feiticiera". The next hour was the greatest of my life by far because of how hard I'd worked to get into the show. All five of them showed terrific energy and Chino's vocals were just fabulous the entire night. I had heard something about him using an effects box, but I didn't see/hear one last night. They played everything that I expected and one song that I didn't - "Minerva"! It was truly beautiful, and I was so caught in that moment. The people around me had to be some of the lamest "fans" ever, since I was the only one who knew every word or who moved around at all. Chino climbed up near our spot during "Hexagram" while I was screaming "worship! play!" at him, and I swear he looked right into my eyes. It was the best, EVER. They played both new songs, and "Beware The Water" was such an amazing experience. The second one ("America"?, "FM"?) was REALLY heavy and pretty enjoyable as well. After what seemed like only a few minutes but was really close to an hour, they played the Adrenaline mix to close the show, which was fucking killer. I enjoyed every moment of their set, and it was undeniably worth all of the trouble and hours of waiting through other bands. I love Deftones as if they were family. Thank you guys, if you ever read this. Set List (not entirely in order): Feiticiera My Own Summer Nosebleed Beware The Water Bloody Cape Around The Fur Be Quiet and Drive FM? America? Hexagram Minerva RX Queen Change 7 Words into Engine No. 9 into Root into Birthmark back to 7 Words -Cory McKnight
