I'll only accept reviews from recent shows!
it makes me sad to write this but it needs to be said at the taste of chaos last night i was
sad to witness that its official nu metal is dead. watchin the deftones was like looking at
four old men who didnt wanna be on stage for five minutes let alone play and entire set the
set start out with minerva it started out ok instrument wise then once `chino came onto the
stage it was down hill from there chino for one was `completly hammered and could barely
get a verse out slering words and his scream sounded like someone scratching a chalkboard
that was followed up by my own summer witch got me going for a min in the opening riff but
again chino destroyed it once he started screaming and that the deftones went onto playing
alot of their slowing less fun songs for a show so that also made it worse then finally tthe
song i thought gave their show a glimmer of hope was change because chino seemed like
he got his shit together for a second and they sounded like the old deftones i remember seeing
it was also pretty cool doing street carp the street drum core came out and played along to
the song with them after that it only got worse at that point id say 3 quarters of the crowd
left the place and what was left on the floor was completly dead and correct me if im wrong
but it seemed like they `cut their set short about 20 minutes the didnt play root engine
number 9 back to school or any of their important song other then 7 words and my own
summer. so i write this not to knock them ive never even posted anything about a concert
but i felt like i had to say something all i ever hear about chino saying shit about other bands
is that they are gettin old and lose and cant perform anymore well they have became just
that unless for some reason that was just one bad show but here it is in a nutshell chino
could barely talk he was so drunk none of them move at all anymore including chinos vocals
are horrid now i just felt like i was watchin four old men try and do something that they cant
any more soming it up the show sucked its truly a sad day for deftones fans i wish it was a
bad dream....

My boy came out from California to see Deftones with me for three straight nights of the
Taste of Chaos tour.
We drove 80 miles from the western part of Mass. First off, the TOC show was run pretty smoothly,
with lesser known bands playing on a tiny part of the stage while the big name bands set their
shit up, thus little down time between sets.
We had to have a few beers outside in the cold so we got in before Atreyu. The crowd seemed to
like Atreyu and Story of the Year pretty well, but they don't do anything for us. I was interested in
seeing Thrice, who were tight, but the crowd didn't seem too inspired by them, so it left me with only
a mild satisfaction. But Deftones did not disappoint, they were fucking fantastic! We pushed our
way down to the right of the stage (about 20 feet in front of Chi) to be up close and personal when
they hit the stage. Man, Deftones were so fucking tight, powerful, and crystal clear! I've seen them
many times over the last 7 years, and this was a great show - they kicked huge ass! I've been
following the set lists for the previous shows of this tour and we totally lucked out, they played TWO
new songs, plus Around the Fur and Street Carp, which they've played little or not at all during this tour.
The first new song is the same one they played in San Diego (my boy says), which starts out sort of
mellow Team Sleep like with Stef on the keyboards and Chino on guitar, then at the end it is way
heavy with Stef back on his 7 string. Anyway, the 'Tones lived up to their legend - they ARE the biggest
band in the world in my humble opinion. Also, it looked like they were really enjoying playing live together.
Our only complaint, the set was short compared to when you see them headline their own tours in
smaller venues.
Setlist - the first 4 are in order, after that we had trouble remembering exactly what the order was:
Hexagram
My Own Summer
New Song#1 (same one they played in San Diego)
Around the Fur
Rx Queen (with Street Drum Corps)
BQAD (incredible!!!!!)
New Song#2 (crazy ass shit, man!)
Change
Bloody Cape
Street Carp
7 Words + Birthmark + maybe parts of Engine #9 + 7 Words (end)
Now we're heading down to Hartford for our second night!

Deftones were performing in my neck of the woods so there was no doubt I had to be there!
First off! I've read the reviews from previous shows and I must say I was getting a little worried
about seeing the "biggest band in the world" do their thing.
But let me kill all the rumors about Deftones not having enough energy. Chino was doing his thing
vocally and physically. From what I heard they played TWO new songs along with Rx Queen
(Drums were mad cool)and Street Carp. Pretty cool for them to change the setlist and play out of
their minds. Yes the crowd was young and somewhat unfamiliar but it was DEFTONES!
Yes the setlist was too short, the other bands didn't matter (no offense) but you can tell they're
getting ready for some new tour, new material. Chi was spinning bass, Abe was beating away and
is underrated as a drummer, Frank is Frank, Steph was ripping it as usual and playing keys at one
point with his ESP on his hip pocket, and Chino was incredibley (asexpected) on point!
Can't wait to hear the new stuff!
Setlist: (not in order)
Hexagram
Around the Fur
My own Summer
Street Carp
Bloody Cape
Rx Queen
New Song
Change
Be Quiet and Drive

This was my first deftones show and I must say I was very satisfied with what i heard. I was a
person away from the baracade and was right there when chino screamed in my face when they
opened with hexagram. They sounded great and i was suprised to see that chino wasnt as big as
previous reviews stated he was. chi has a mustache now which is pretty badass looking. they also
played 2 new songs, america and Beware of the water which were both crazy.
american seemed to be pretty heavy at time reminding me of some of there shit off ATF. The suprise
was probably hearing street carp but it was great.
I also think their set was fairly longer then the other shows. Although i was pretty disapointed they
didnt play feitciera they made up for it by the two new songs plus street carp. As chino was holding
my hand in hexagram i dont think anything could have topped it. Show was great. I heard rumors that
teething was on the set list earlier that night but chino turned it down which could have been slighty
dissapointing if it was true, but im not complaining too much. overall the show was great, as i lay dying
was suprisingly good as well. thrice wasnt too good, nor was atreu which sucked because i had to hold
my own waiting for the tones to come on with all the people trying to claw their way by me.
this is the set list (could be slightly out of order)
hexagram
my own summer
beware of the water
nosebleed
be quiet and drive
rx queen
street carp
bloody cape
around the fur
america
change
7 words (part 1)
birthmark
7 words (part 2)

last nights show was intense.
i wasnt feelin most of the stuff before the tones. thrice was the exception they ripped it up,
story of the year did a good job on stage if nothing else. the other bands didnt sound like
anything special. the sound at the tsongas was great too, sounded like a club more than an
arena. i was impressed with every part of the deftones set. the crowd was absolutley nuts
too, and they were calling us "the best crowd yet on the tour"
so the tones come out with hexagram and whatever anybody says chino was tight, totally
busted out. he had tons of energy, and his voice was on... and seriously, the guy is not fat.
stef broke a string and the guys started laughing at him, pretty funny. other than that he
played damn well. they also played two new songs which i wasnt expecting at all. but then
again they also didnt play a few that i really wanted and expected to hear like root, feticeira
or engine no. 9
so heres the setlist might be in order might not
hexagram
my own summer
nosebleed
be quiet and drive
rx queen w/ sdc
new song (slow)
around the fur
street carp
change
new song (heaavvyy)
bloody cape
7 words first half\ birthmark / 7 words end
^this was so perfect
i think that about sums it up
looking forward to the new album, got a postcard with a weird picture, dont know if its the new
cover or what. didnt give a name either. summer o6 fo sho

Wow. The show was fucking incredible, the crowd was insane, and 2 NEW SONGS!!!!!!!
This was my sixth time seeing the deftones and from reading the reviews so far, I thought it
wasnt gonna be as awesome as it was. Chino looked fucking awesome, his hair is really short
again and he didnt look fat to me at all. Stef looked like he always does, Chi's hair is really long
now, looks like its about time for the dreads again. Abe looked a lot cooler with the buzzed hair....
When we got there, Atreyu had just hit the stage, they were OK. Story of the Year came on next,
they actually suprised me, they were pretty good. I thought they were a queer punk/pop trl band but
they were really heavy and had tons of energy, put on a good show. Thrice was next, no offense to
any of thier fans but they really sucked, almost put me to sleep. Then the Street Corps Drum
faggots came out, they were so fucking queer, pretty much got booed off the stage...and then it
was time for the fucking deftones!! I made it up to the second row right near the middle. The lights
went out and the crowd went fucking crazy. I saw chi walk out with the 5 string and knew they
were gonna open with something different, not Feit. Heres the set list in just about exact order:
Hexagram
My Own Summer
New Song (slow one with Stef playing a keyboard!?)
Nosebleed
BQAD
Rx Queen (with the drumming homos)
Street Carp (very suprised to hear that, awesome)
Bloody Cape
Around The Fur
Change
SECOND NEW SONG (was pretty heavy, reminded me of a mixture of elite and
w.g.t.b. Stef played it on the 7 string, Chi on the 5 string)
7 Words (part one)
Birthmark
7 Words (part two)
They put on a great fucking show. When they opened with Hexagram Chino came right into the
crowd and was within touching distance of me. The crowd was insane, and got even crazier when
they went into MOS. Chino had to stop midway in the song to make sure no one was getting
squashed to death. They interacted with the crowd, but I guess not as much as usual.
Was hoping they would play Root and #9 inbetween 7 words, but oh well. I just cant wait when
they have thier headlining tour this summer in smaller venues and longer setlists. Im sore as fuck
today and my voice is still gone from screaming every word. If you have never been to a deftones
show, you have no idea what your missing. Does anyone else know anything about the new song
they debuted last night??? later... Colin

Ignore the post about a bad show. A true tones fan would recognize an exceptional performance.
This was no exception. The crowd was young and most were in bed by the time they took the
stage. Every other band sounded the same, except Thrice, as they sounded fairly good.
Deftones took the stage and got down to business.
Chino's voice was strong and sounded good. Abe was pounding away all through the set, and
mixed things up some tracks. Chi was very upbeat and flailing around. Steph was right on as usual.
Change/street carp/BQAD/birthmark thrown in the middle of 7 words were my highlights.
Played 2 new songs, both sounded good. About an hour show. Looking foward to the album and
tour to follow. This was about my 10th deftones show and they get better with age.
Small venue dates should be killer. I'm quite thankful these guys still provide such great music.
Peace--dct
