Deftones on Family Values Tour 2006, at the NE Dodge some-such-shit outdoor arena. Only showed up to catch the 'Tones, and they did not disappoint! Their set was too short at about 40 minutes, but they sounded incredible, Chino's vocals were clear (how does he keep it so clean when he screams like that!??) and Abe was on fire mashing the kit! They all sounded great, real powerful. They have a giant cloth banner with the new album cover picture of that girl. Pretty cool when it's all backlit in purple. During a few interludes between songs they had some trippy syntho music going and I kept hoping they'd bust out with another new song, but no luck. Guess we'll have to wait for their headline tour (in November! according to Frank). But they did do "Beware" and "Hole", which they are really getting into grooves with now. I think "Beware" has the sickest fucking heavy ending, I love it! Fun set, crowd was into it, as much they can be in an arena, and the boys seemed pretty happy. Oh yeah, Chino had some awesome long chollo-style white socks with green stripes, real barrio old-school, if you know what I mean. Right on. After the set I did the pre-paid deal for the new album, got a cool signed l itho and met all of 'em - Chino, Frank, Abe, Chi, and Stef. They're all down-to-earth dudes. Even though that whole meet-the-band scene is kinda quick and seems a little corny, they were all real cool and genuine. Thanks again, Deftones. The setlist as well as I can remember, missing one I think: Passenger (cool to start off with this) My Own Summer Beware the Water (fantastic!) Feiticeria Nosebleed Headup BQAD Hole in the Earth Change 7 Words DannySlam ---------------------------------------------------------------- Hartford Show overal, great show, for all of you wondering, deftones go on about 8:00, here's the breakdown... flyleaf- never heard of em before, cool band, with a female frontman, very good singer, really can belt it out, sounds a bit like Coheed Stone Sour- very good for what they do, im just not into it at all, very attractive to the Harley Davidson community, if that means anything Deftones- abe, frank, steph, and chi played outstanding very very tight, with abe really giving 110%, maybe one of the best shows ive seen him play, frank slimmed down alot too, at first i thought it wasn't even him, he looked very good, chino was prally at about 80%, ive seen him perform better, very little crowd interaction too, although im sure this late in the tour his voice is hurting, although by no means did he sound bad or even average, ive jsut seen him be more into it in the past, he also looks like hell, i mean really bad, looks like he got even fatter and his face is so bloated! im seriously getting worried about the guy, he doesn't take care of himself at all, very good sound system as you could really hear what frank was doing, bass was a little loud at times, very cool lights especially the strobe light type stuff, very cool banner as well, its part of the new album cover mostly featuring the girl on the left hand side, funny thiing was chino didn't mention the new album at all, i figured he would have at least said something. overall sadly they were poorly received, they really were just over most people's heads you could see people looking bored and walking around during their set, everyone seemed to be there for Stone Sour and Korn, alot of dumb trailor trash and kids that never really got over 1999. I left right after deftones, no reason to see Korn, honestly, i think they suck now ps, deftones were doing a signing at one of the tents at 9:30, not sure if that was just a Hartford thing or throughout the tour setlist (in order) Passenger Shove It Beware the Water Feteceira Nosebleed Engine # 9 Be Quiet and Drive Hole in the Earth Headup Change Seven Words standouts were Passenger, E-9, and Hole in the Earth and for those of you that haven't heard the rumor is that the headlining tour starts in Mid Nov!!
