Later this week, Deftones will embark on a tour of the Pacific Rim. Beginning May 11th in Japan with Ozzfest, the band will then travel on to a sold out Australian tour, and finish the run with dates in Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Hawaii. One Love Family Gathering

Dear One Love Family,
We’d love for you to join the Cheng family on Sunday April 21, 2013 at 2:00pm Pacific time for a One Love Family gathering at Oak Grove Regional Park in Stockton, CA on Eight mile road and i5 at the pavilion. Parking is $6 per car. Bring your own drinks etc. They have picnic tables and BBQ pits if you want to bring food.
Your outpouring of love and condolences is so very appreciated. Please come join the family as we pay a tribute of love to our dear Chi.

This is the saddest day for all Deftones’ fans, our beloved Chi has passed away. Rest in peace…

This is the hardest thing to write to you. Your love and heart and devotion to Chi was unconditional and amazing.

I know that you will always remember him as a giant of a man on stage with a heart for every one of you.

He was taken to the emegency room and at 3 am today his heart just suddenly stopped. He left this world with me singing songs he liked in his ear.

He fought the good fight.You stood by him sending love daily. He knew that he was very loved and never alone.

I will write more later. I will be going through the oneloveforchi site and any other information may not be reliable.
If you have any stories or messages to share please send them to the onelove site. Please hold Mae and Ming and the siblings and especially Chi’s son, Gabriel in your prayers. It is so hard to let go.

Here’s some rare footage back from 1998. At this time Deftones’ were recording the official videoclip for “Be Quiet and Drive” in an old storage building, what we didn’t know is that Chino lip synced the song in an acoustic way. The footage has now emerged on the internet as one of the most kept Deftones’ secrets.

‘Koi No Yokan’ – Listen to the new album

Deftones are streaming their seventh album, the rightly anticipated Koi No Yokan, a week ahead of its release over at Rolling Stone. As implied by the teaser tastes previously received, “Tempest” and “Leathers,” the new one comes closer to advancing the nuanced alt-metal glory of 2000′s genuinely classic White Pony. It’s got more grind overall, but the textures and tones counterbalance the guttural with a distinctly narcotic headiness.

“It’s not a super fast or slow record. It’s very dynamic,” singer Chino Moreno told Billboard. “There’s a lot of aggression in some of the music, but there’s also this very soothing element where there’s a lot of soundscapes rather than attack, attack, attack the whole time… I really feel like we reached a peak on our dynamics on this record with those two qualities — the beauty of something and just straight, ruthless aggression.”

So while a brutal ripper like “Poltergeist” can sit comfortably next to the melodic and dreamy “Entombed,” most songs on the album fall somewhere between those two extremes, and tip the balance back and forth as they go on. It’s thick, heavy stuff, and though Koi No Yokan isn’t out until November 13, we recommend you listen to the entire thing right now. (source: spin.com)

Deftones Talk About Halloween Costumes & Side Projects

In this exclusive video, Chino Moreno and Sergio Vega share their wildest costumes from Halloween’s past. Moreno recalls his fifth grade stint as Boy George—which, by the way, won him a top spot in his family’s costume contest—and Vega dishes on the year he went out as a pregnant woman.

In another interview with Rock It Out, Chino spoke about the upcoming record Koi No Yokan as well as the various side projects he is a part of, and guess what Team Sleep is not dead yet…
