El Paso, Texas USA El Paso County Coliseum Pavilion October 28, 2006 This was my sixth time seeing the Deftones live in concert. Let me just start off by saying that they did not disappoint in last night's show. After a stand still crowd with the opening band Deadsy and an anxious interlude, the Deftones ripped the crowd apart with "Feiticeira" as their opener. Soon after, the El Paso crowd got owned by a thinned-out (for all of you concerned about his weight) but energized Chino Moreno on "My Own Summer" with a free style rap by Chino in the middle of the break. Next, Stephen Carpenter's angry guitar riffs, Chi Cheng's furious shouts, and Abe's furiously kick on his bass drum opened up for a song that has personal meaning to me. Chino let the crowd have it with the most livid version of "Headup" that I have ever heard from them. Deftones somewhat slowed the pace down with a rare performance of "Passenger." The El Paso crowd sang the chorus in the absence of Maynard, bringing the Deftones and their devoted fans even more closely together. A few songs came and went, and then the crowd seemed to become hypnotized by a heavy riff from Stef and Frank Delgado's background melody in the soon to be released song from Saturday Night Wrist, "Beware the Water." Later, Chino seemed to be in good spirits, swaying to Chi's baseline instead of singing during "Minus Blindfold," "let me go I give more, and you know - oh so good, we could and we learned to cry and lift... me... up." And lastly, the riffs that made Deftones what they are today, "7 Words" forced the crowd together for a final good-night act of releasing pinned-up aggression. By far, this was the best performance by Deftones that I have ever witnessed. I would like to thank Stephen, Chino, Chi, Abe, and Frank for all of their hard work and music that they have given the world. I would also like to thank Nuno Rolinho for his hard work and dedication in keeping www.deftonesworld.com up and running. Robert Portillo El Paso, Texas USA p.s. Happy birthday Nuno (November 2nd)! Most people reading this probably(or should of)seen a Deftones show by now. Ive read reviews where people slam and praise them for the same show. I myself have been a lil disappointed with a deftones show. The taste of chaos earlier this year in El paso made me think the Tones werent gonna be the same. Im a complete idiot and regret this. Saturday was the best show ive ever seen. No hype and no BS. This was crazy and it showed to everyone that they werent pulling any punches saturday. I cant really describe it, and only a true fan knows what its like to see them throw down and do it like noone else. From Abe bashing away, and Chi just going complete apeshit made me, a long time and lovingly Deftones fan giddy. Chino was completly perfect, even his impromptu rapping and toss in of a Jt chorus was great. Stef is Stef, he smokes and is on it. This is my number one show, and I dont think it can be topped. Maybe. Please check them out cause this is what the Deftones do, and im very happy =) Setlist(not in order) MinusBlindfold Nosebleed S-words Engine #9 MoS Around the Fur Bqadfa Headup Feiticeira Digital Bath Elite Rx queen Passenger Change(hof) Bloody Cape Hole in the Earth Cherry Waves Michael C. from LC NM ---------------------------------------------------- 10/28/'06 el paso tx @ the pavillion best d-tones show ever! phuckin amazo! heres the setlist: fieticiera digital bath mos with wu rap bq&d sexyback/around the fur head up ! passenger ! elite ! nosebleed minus blindfold beware (amazing live!) rx queen E # 9 with sean paul rap (funny stuff) ------ cherry waves ! hole in the earth - beautiful with chino on guitar and steph on bass bloody cape ------ change se7en words there were a few taste of chaos kids but the true fans showed them what the phuck is up! this show was life changing! cant wait to see these guys again! -Phred Monty
