Ever since i heard the song Lovers, i just thought that was one of the most hardest and darkest tracks that The Deftones have ever done. I think the song is about a relationship this girl has had with all these other guys that took her for granted and all the guys are just realizing that they lost something special. "She carried us all" describes how the girl treated them and cared like she was willing to do anything for him. Now that she left, the guy is wishing she would come back to him, hence "For the first time, I wish she'd call,I wish she'd come." I think the second verse is "To blame our taste, you could bury us all." It's the guys trying to win her back by taking the blame for screwing up by cheating on her. And then the lyrics "The more you wait, the more you burn" is the girl's words to the guys, saying they'll suffer for treating her like shit. Well i dunno, i just thought I'd add my 2 cents.

I'm sorry to break this to you all but half the meanings you've contrived seem pritty one dimensional. Perhaps thats what chino intends. But possibly he intends more then just face value on his hyper extention of the english language. Whatever the meaning he attempts to convay he's doing it with broken and misdirected phrases that sometimes don't make sense at all. But in that sense is the beauty of his sarcastic teenage poetry. Everyones trying to write like this fucker. Hell I know because I do it to. Lovers isn't about face value or a girl and guy sorta thing. " Through the air and time we came to see her. Where the sun collides she carried us all." He's talking about the dawn " Where the sun collides." And the earth she carried us all." We're all on the back of the earth. It then is followed by open ended material design to evoke emotion and thought with which ever meaning you choose to apply.

"Crenshaw" is a one of chino's coolest songs and to me has a great meaning because this meaning happend to me. to me the whole song is about cheating on someone but in the sense of being affraid of falling in love with the other women. REMEMBER THAT ONE TIME I BIT YOU ON THE ARM I WAS JUST AFRAID OF THE SOLITUDE OF BEING IN LOVE. to me chino is remembering when he did a stupid act to his misstress and is telling her he was just afraid of being in love and him being the only one feelling it and not her.I WANT TO BE IN YOUR HOUSE RIGHT NOW MAKE YOU STAND BY THE SINK I SWEAR TO KEEP AWAY. he wants to be with her all the time and would love it if she got naked for him but chino wouldn't touch her and would stay away from her if she didnt want to have sex with him. I think this song is about someone who think's their the shit or has really fucked with some people, maybe its about a group of people or a small little clique that's really been wrong over the years. It could be guys or girls, cause chino refers to a female 'Fuck you bitch!!!', but he also says 'you get stuck with whores!' Ok anyway, This person/group I think is prolly like a stuck up snob, who's all pressed about their clothes, fashion, looks, money, etc, and they think they're better than everyone else simply cause they've had everything handed to them. I think in this song chino's talking about the whole idea of karma, where what goes around comes around. I think it might also be about someone who is like supposed to be religous, but like they really sin while no ones looking 'first you smile at lord' but chino says 'i found you first' almost like he saw what no one else saw and it makes chino upset. Then he talks about coming home, almost as if he has a reason to come home, most likely cause of this person. So this person is obviously pressed over the fact that he/she has got some to be with, sexually, cause chinos like 'but thats too bad you get stuck with whores!', like this person can't do any better than that but they think what they've got is the shit, and like their material things are pressed over them. I think in the end this person gets the shit beat out of them, i dunno if thats really coming out of the lyrics but the music definately sound like it. Plus 'teething' when a baby teeths they are kinda growing up, or growing away from their parents, so this is almost like chino is getting the person to 'teeth' away from the shit their so pressed about. i dunno, just my interpretation. -Cameron
