The Deftones Live from "Summer Sanitarium" - Columbus, Ohio USA
July 19th 2003 www.deftonesworld.com
I pretty much knew what to expect after reading previous reviews and realizing
deftones would play in the middle of the day to a crowd who wasn't there to see
them. They put on a hell of a good show for the limited time they had and the
band seemed to have lots of energy with chino and chi imparticular running all
over the stage. I was seated way up in C deck sort of right in line with the 50
yard line for football games but i had a perfect view of the stage and all for
every band there.
I know deftones played over 45 minutes and I thought the setlist was kinda odd
but in a good way. I watched them on headbangers ball last week and remeber chino
saying that they wanted to switch up the setlist and play newer stuff but the newer
stuff was absent from this set. I wanted to hear something other than Minerva, Hexagram,
and Bloody Cape not that there bad songs just that I have heard them live before.
I wanted to be the 1st to hear Needles and Pins or When Girls Telephone Boys that
wouldve been so amazing since as far as i know they haven't played them live yet.
The only disappointment for me was the sound system having to much bass and drowned
out the guitar. I bet the sound was alot better from the pit area or lower decks its
just that people high up wouldn't get a good impression since it sounded bad.
I don't even have bootlegs that sounde that bassy it was so loud that my balls would
vibrate off my seat so needless to say i had a little orgasm from listening to deftones
play which was awsome;) Chino got in the crowd during My Own Summer and I felt bad that
I couldn't be down there to go crazy. I was glad they played Birthmark and Nosebleed
off Adrenaline it was a nice surprize to hear old stuff. The whole time I watched them
I just wrote down the setlist on a piece of paper I took just for that reason so it is
accurate.
The Setlist in order:
1.Korea
2.Feiticeira
3.Change
4. My Own Summer
5. Birthmark
6. Hexagram
7. Nosebleed
8. Bloody Cape
9. Minerva
