Well, tonight I went to see the greatest band in the world the Deftones in
my home city of Columbus,Ohio. And they came out with "Root" i was excited.
The show continued until they played bored, when in the middle Chino started
Singing "Im happy, im feeling glad ive got sunshine in a bag im useless but
not for long the future is coming on." To my surprise GORILLAZ! I was quite
pleased. Then Chino after bored started rapping with a beat laid down by Abe,
then Steph added some little gee-tar thing, but what was funny is that chi
went to his mic and yelled that this reminded im of TRL with all the rapping.
Chino then went on to say that he was a rapper and Chi better recognize
before he caps his ass. The whole show was slap happy. Various technical
problems and Chino's voice seemed to be bothering him though he said it was
due to smoking too much weed. The whole show didn't seem up to par with the
Deftones. However the band realized that they weren't performing well and
tried their hardest to make it right. At the beginning of "Street Carp" Chino
asked the crowd if they like to gamble and with a resounding yes Chino gave
the bet: If we fuck this song up we pay the crowd $500, but if they get it
right we owe the crowd $500. Well, they played "Street Carp" for the bet, And
to me it sounded near perfect, I just figured it was due to the amphitheater
being crappy(which it is). But Chino placing the blame on himself admitted
the screwing up. So he owed us $500. well since he didn't have that much, he
threw out 5 backstage passes into the crowd. Salt in the wound for me because
my backstage passes were given away by my friend's aunt before the show. I
didn't get one. Poor little me. I figured you might care to know since you
run the best deftones site in the world.

well my third deftones show was pure greatness. it opened up with darwin's
waiting room, who i was eager to hear for the first time. they were pretty
good, but the crowd of about 700 or so wasn't really into it. i hung out
with them afterwards for a bit and they seemed really cool. next up was
puddle of mudd, who most people say suck, but i think they're very good.
again, the crowd wasn't really into it, but they rocked. their drummer
threw out about 20 drumsticks. after a short break, deftones came up and
they rocked. my seats were great - 5th row so i got to see all of the
action. chino looked at me a couple times which i thought was so cool. they
sounded pretty good, but the acoustics of an amphitheatre are never great.
chino's voice seemed ok although it kinda gave out on him during 7 words.
the setlist was the same as the new orleans show. chino seemed pretty drunk
to me and he fell off the speakers 2 or 3 times. he kinda rambled on and on
inbetween songs. but i've come to expect that from him by now. the crowd
seemed to really be into deftones a lot which made for an even better time.
they played for about 70 minutes or so and put on a great show. we walked
out to the levi's stage once again to check out from zero, who i've seen on
mtv2 a couple times. i wasn't really looking forward to them, but i was
pleasantly surprised. they were actually good and as a band they sounded
great live. godsmack was absolutely horrible, but i'm not a fan of them at
all. their stage setup was just downright stupid, filled with plastic
gargoyles and stuff. the crowd seemed into them though. overall the show
was really great, the deftones once again put on an awesome show.
