September 15 Tweeter Center Philly. i got there at like 7 15. deftones went on about 7 50. i only went for them and left right after. so those are the times if u wanna arrive nicely just for the tones... the show was cool, it was my 4th time seein them. chino sounded good. he ran around a lot. and he loves swinging that damn microphone. he didnt really say much to the crowd except these things: towards the end of the show he yelled "what, i cant hear you?" to somebody, then said, " what do u wanna hear? i dont give a fuck, il play whatever, even if its not by us!" then went into 7 words. during the break of 7 words he dipped down in the crowd to some girl, staring at her, and said " hold up, this is some nick lachey shit right here, let me get my lachey on" i guess the surprise was "if only tonight we could sleep". i think these places they play sound so shitty. the guitars are so loud and distorted, i cant wait to hear the new songs studio versions. heres the setlist i think in order.. feiticeira my own summer beware nosebleed engine no 9 passenger hole in the earth if only tonight we could sleep headup change 7 words --------------------------------------- This was my 15th time seeing the Deftones. They still play a great show. The music was tight. Chino sounded dead-on. My only complaint is that the sound in the Tweeter Center sucks if you have seats. It's so loud that you sometimes can't really make out the music from the distortion. I had never heard Passenger live and it ROCKED! As always, they closed with 7 Words. It would be nice to hear something a little different for a set closer. All in all though, a great show. Here's the set list: Feiticeira My Own Summer Beware Passenger Nosebleed Engine #9 If Only Tonight We Could Sleep Headup Hole In The Earth Change 7 Words ------------------------------------ September 16. Tweeter Center. Mansfield, MA We got there just as that japanese hardcore band was hitting the stage, they really sucked, singer was cutting himself, bleeding, pretty gay. Flyleaf was next, nothing special, such an Evanasence ripoff if you ask me. Then came Stone Sour..I was kind of looking foward to checking them out, with Corey and Jim from Slipknot, but they were pretty disapointing as well, just didnt do it for me, I prefer Corey with the mask on playing with Slipknot. Then it was 8:00 (yes, the deftones come on that early) and deftones hit the stage. Opened with Fiet , again. They played really well, sounded really good. Seeing the tones in a big outdoor venue just isnt the same as seeing them inside in a smaller venue. Not nearly as much energy, crowd really wasnt that into it, wasnt that loud, chino didnt come into the crowd or interact much. Thier energy was awesome, seeing how they have been touring pretty much non stop since last winter, starting at the taste of chaos, then the european tour, then right into family values. We were right in the front in the pit section, they played for about 50 minutes. Got to meet them after which was AWESOME, meeting your idols is always a cool thing. Said they would be doing a headlining tour starting in November, looking real foward to that, most likely gonna be at the Worcestor Pallidum, nice small venue and a lot longer of a set list with more new songs. I was kind of disappointed they didnt play anything different at all, dont they get sick of playing the same songs night after night? And then there was Korn, WOW, have they become incredibly gay. Im suprised no one else has written about how gay they are. First off, I guess it took FIVE people to replace Head. I was assuming they would have a back up guitarist, which they did, but I wasnt expecting to see a second drumset with a second drummer (guess david isnt good enough to do it alone anymore?), a keyboardist, a backup singer, and a gay looking security guard that stood next to davids drumset the whole time. And oh yah, all the backup musicians had animal masks on with white shirts and ties. I mean, cmon, hey gay can you get??? Chino came out to do Wicked, which was awesome, but he must have been rollign his eyes at all the back up musicians in thier stupid animal masks. Anyway, heres the setlist, no suprises, and nothing from the self titled album... Fiet My Own Summer Beware Passenger Nosebleed Engine No. 9 Hole in the Earth Around the Fur Headup Change 7 Words ------------------------------------------------------------------ Family Values Tour. This will be my second Deftones concert. Both in New Jersey. Hopefully when I go back home I'll see them in my native California. Anyways my friend flew all the way from San Diego to visit and see Korn and Deftones. I'm sorry, but hes a big Korn fan. Anyways.... We get there at around 2:30 PM so we got to see all or most of the bands. *Pitt Tickets* Probably my favorite of the bands was 10 years. Their lead singer was pretty wierd, but it worked. And the band had some awesome riffs. Then that Japanese band was next. All the girls aged 15-19 were there for this band. Diren Grey they were called and the girls went nuts when they came out. I didnt think to much of their appearence. Just a bunch of little skiny asian kids with bad teeth. Their music pretty much sucked and when ever they threw something out in the pit I would be crushed by adolescent breast, which would be cool, if they werent so goddamed annoying. After they got done playing all the goth/ teeny bopper girls left and I was at the very front on the guard rail. Fly Leaf came next. They were okay, but nothing memorable. Stone Sour played and some drunk fan shoved his way between me and my friend making our awesome location not so awesome. Especially when he would fling his stupid hair around. We ended up playing a tug of war with the guy trying to get rid of the guy. His drunk powers and his love for Cory where to strong for me my friend and 4 other people who were annoyed by him. He left after Stone Sour left. And then came the Deftones. My all time favorite band. I took alot of pics that I will post on here later. It was over all an awesome performance. A little bit short for my taste however. But if it were up to me I would have them play almost every single song they had done. The chick behind me was getting as crazy as I was. We did all the words, and she was dry humping me the whole time. I yelled out "Sacto!"to get his attention and he looked over at us. I yelled out "Play Knife Party" and the dryhumper who was rubbing her breast on me yelled out "7 words". I forget what he said and then they started playing "7 words". She went nuts and at during the chorus she at one point wraped one of her legs around me, grinding poor little me. A sweaty lap dance to my favorite band. What more can you ask at a Deftones concert.
