A typical Deftones song, if you want to show a friend how Deftones sounds like, "Bored" is the sound. Chino shows here how he's made of. Slowly in the beginning and faster with screams in the end. Screams that's right! I call them DefScreams. The kind of scream that doesn't hurts our hearing, it's a gift to hear Chino's screams. This song got a confuse message but if we real get on to it, we can see that Chino talks about a mistake that he could make if that "real one" he talks about doesn't shows up and gives him what he want I WISH FOR A REAL ONE If that happens he's gonna get bored and really pissed of IT GETS WORSE...IT'S MORE A mistake made by him could be the solution...!!?!??!

The beauty which is the driving force of the Deftones is obscurity. In all its thrash, heavy, melodic, moodiness, what make the Deftones so unique is their ability to invade the listeners' psyche and form an individual experience. The listener decides what the lyrics mean and how the music feels. I've listened to the Deftones every day for years, and yet I could not sing through an entire song, I just don't pay that much attention to what Chino is really saying. It's more how he says it, and how I absorb his voice, that I derive meaning. To me, "Bored" is about living an active, scheduled life. You are successful, you've accomplished all of your dreams, but you're still hollow. You lie awake in bed at night hoping for more. You're numb to the core.

Basically we all need to look at the words if you look at the words you might find the meaning. I'll leave everyone with this: HEAR ME SPIT ON YOU WITHER I. It is someone with power who just died. Power meaning he could spit on people and they could not do anything back to him. He is a ruthless king. REMOLD INTO GOLD AND BURY I FROM SUN. The King is made into a mummy and put in his casket. REBORN LEFT TO SIGH. He is reborn into his self because God wanted him to suffer for SPITTING on his people. Now he must simplify his life inside this casket or else he'll get board. I believe I once read something about this song and the lyrics went really well with what i read. I think it was done perfectly and it was stressed very well. I believe i read that minus blindfold was about an accident that occured with Abe while skating around. As most true deftones fans know, they used to be skaters....a little hobby of theirs back in the day. Well, anyways......supposedly while they were skating around on the streets, a driver hit Abe and I guess might of hit and ran. If this is true than this leaves abe's deftones buddies in a scary situation....start with the lyrics:

When he says "my activities cross but they create" i believe he means my hobby or activity in skating may interfere with society but they create a purpose of fun...or so on.........then "you know i want to pick you up but they don't want you to" which is kinda mixed up saying of chino wanting to pick "abe" perhaps up from being hit but that's usually not suggested and maby others didn't want him to(because moving a person after an acciedent can cause more pain...it's reccomended for professionals to do it).....then there's the court line "dis me court like we got" well obviously a court situation in which they were possibly looked down on cause they are just a bunch of punks skating where they shouldn't. Other lyrics go along with this message as well. It's kind of a tricky song but i think it works. Also a side note about what i read.....which was they they did get a settlement of money...a good deal of it to for (abe?) injury........and i heard they used this to buy intruments and amps and stuff.....so sounds neat.

I agree with Rob D. On the meaning of this song. However this song also tells the beging on deftones as a band. I read somewere that the way deftones was formend is that Stef not Abe got hit by a car. Doing what anybody would do he sewed. Getting money, he decided to share the welth. He bought everybody insturments and eveything. If this is true or not its kinda makes you wonder...if it was not for a wreakless driver, there would be no deftones.

This is an anti-organised religion song. "because he wanted to meet christ alone," its saying how organised religion fucks with peoples minds and how it gives no choice to people who want to follow it their own way, or not at all. "we could be your god" is showing how rediculous it is, its sayin that anyone can make up a beleif and people will follow it. "Bitch" refers to God, or organised religion, as its saying that you cant persecute someone for simply following it their own way, or not at all, but how modern society and people who belive they are follwing God, do. "never will i burn under and beneath the floor" is a direst defiance to the chrsitian belief that if you do not belive in god, u go to hell, as hes saying jus becuase he wants to "meet chrsit alone", i.e without following a certain religion, he will not go to hell. "we could have been like one" is saying that maybe he would belive in God if organised religion and the prejudices did not go with it, but these exist because of God and so he cannot belive in it.

The concrete level of interpretation is a scenario with a boyfriend and girlfriend as the main characters (Chino often chooses those roles anyway, but here it makes the most sense). A secondary character is the "tortured artist" type. He is a seriously depressed person, but the main character's girlfriend sees him as unique and develops a crush on him. She starts becoming obsessive, overanalyzing him, and always finds some hidden genuis or passionate art to anything he does. To go a little beyond chino's actual words, let's assume this guy eventually commits suicide, and by that point the girl practically worships him as a god. "One Weak" is the boyfriend telling his girlfriend that this was just some misunderstood guy, who never wanted to be worshiped like he was. The couple could have been perfect together if the girl never became obsessed with him. The girl has wasted her time, and her continuing obsession will lead to her downfall. This really could have been based on a true life event, especially when you consider when Adrenaline came out, but I highly doubt it.

I think this song is about getting hurt by someone, and overcoming the pain. In the verses, Chino sings about a relationship that has a lot of potential, but it isn't working out because the girl is abusive. "Bitch - you're no good, we could be so flown. Misunderstood, because we wanted to meet Christ alone." Then in the chorus, Chino's attitude changes, and he sings "Never sit and watch me burn ... never will I burn," meaning that he is tired of all the abuse the girl gives, tired of the girl watching him suffer. I think the line "Never, bitch cuz your scars show" means that the girl had bad relationships in the past, and it makes it harder for her to trust new guys, which is probably the reason for her abuse. At the end of the song: "Beg, don't even try, and you will never beg, don't even waste your breath !" I think Chino is letting the girl know that no amount of begging will make him go back to her, so she shouldn't even bother. Basically this song is a sort of triumphant song that says "Hey, fuck you bitch ! I'm sick of your shit, and I'm over you."

I'm with K-Dawg. This song is about cops and their racial prejudice. The cops are the pigs. Chino is Chinese and Mexican, thus making him subject to prejudice. In the song secrets link, Chino said he wrote it when he felt like everyone was against him and when he is undergoing such hardships with the cops he knows their against him and he wants to get out anger. I believe the correct lyrics are THAT BROTHERS FACE, brothers being fellow un-white humans. "You Have The Right To Remain Silent." I was read these words a few days ago. I know what it's like to be looked down upon by a bunch of "Pigs." "My parents made me strong to lift up that glass"... alcohol? I was arrested as a DUI- drinking under the influence. or even "made me strong to look up that glass" being strong and proud even when you are thrown up against the car window while being patted down and searched. I myself am an asian girl, i relate to all the lines in between as racial slander made upon we of different ethnicities than caucasian. "Mr. PIG" has crushed "all of my brothers dignity." It is also a common knowledge that the system is a little tricky, "your punk ass made it up, I think your fuckin mind is gone" Also, while I was at the station, I felt a dirty sexual tension between my being an attractive young woman, and older male cops... Once you're hooked, nothing can save you and up up killing you( you knock me out). 'I'll take the burden full blown and we'll, i'll be there-no. Do you think I care?' Chino or whoever the songs about, is into the drugs. he stops caring about his commitments and is willing to take the blame for fucking up. 'Everything felt good, everything's right at first' Drugs are cool in the beginning, at the end it ain't shit, just a habit. 'Life before I would shine down unshy, it comes from the first one I...', He's talking about before he did drugs, he was brave in the world, but after, the person he became was lower and that came from the first time he did the drug. ' I want to be much than more' drugs make you feel superior sometimes.'makes me sick, makes me die' DUH, drugs do that to you. That's how i feel, and that's what FIREAL means to me.

It all ends as it started. Quality above all. "Fist" is a simple but intelligent song. The message is simple. Love! YOU ARE MINE The need to be with her I NEED YOU The final love message YOU'RE THE FIRST STAR Without her he's nothing I'M SO DEAD and tiredness and sickness comes to bury him alive I'M SO TIRED AND SICK Sweet melody with a sweet voice ends this great album, from this great great band simply called Deftones.

i love this song. the way i see it this song is about a guy who is thinking about what he wants to say to his lover/girlfriend while he's writing her a letter. he starts by writing "hello memory lover". then he writes "you are mine" like he doesn't believe it so he has to keep repeating it so he can finally realize he has her. she loves him but not as much as he does her. she knows that and it scares her (because she doesn't want to love him that much) so she wants out of the relationship and he's trying to make her stay by telling her how much he needs her and he thinks about how much he has done just to be with her "I gave everything" "i need you". he's afraid she will leave but he's hopeful that some day she will love him just as much "and some day - I'll be with her - ill be with you- i will" . he feels he cant survive without her and he feels it coming "I'm so dead". he tells her she was his first love "you're the first star". he tells her you're the only one i feal safe around so i show you the real me "you're the one who sees it all" even though he is hopeful he knows something will always be wrong "i know" that makes him feal ill "I'm so tired and sick" he gives up and never finishes the letter. He just falls asleep. I think the title is really first with an r. because she was his first love.

All In All, appears to be like a poem/letter to whom the writer held dearest. (Hello Memory Lover) - Refers to the only lover you can project and picture in your head, when you think of love. He Gave all he could, and so much more just to be there(I Gave Everything). He needs her badly, like a cure to a insatisfiable itch that his soul aches for (I Need You).The reason he probablly pauses and doesnt finish his thought, is most likely he was gathering himself and contemplating that gamble he's taking, but then says it complete, realizing he doesn't care and speak his inner feelings. (And Someday, I'll Be With- I'll Be With You, I Will). (I'm So Dead) conveys how bare, alone, deserted, and lost he is when she's not with him. (You Are the First Star) She's the first bright glowing star in his the small universe inside of him, his heart, and she the only that can see it all, because after-all it's all for her..(Your the one who sees it all). Finnaly he's growing impatient of waiting, infact sick of it, numb from that feeling everyone wants..needs to feel, Love

This is a beautiful song. It is obviously about love. Here it seems Chino is writing about a long distance relationship, where he has visited her and now left for awhile, "Hello memory lover" Then he is talking about how much he needs her and then how someday, he will be with her. "And someday, I'll be with her" He is also emotionally dead from not being able to see her, but she's "the first star, you're the one who sees it all" Which Chino believes that she's looking out for him....but he's so tired and sick from being away from her.
