The Virgin Megastore show was phenomenal!! Only 600 people at a record store with the Deftones... it really doesn't get better than that as concert going experiences go these days. All the guys sound great, and the new record is amazing! Of course everyone waited forever in lines that wrapped Hollywood Boulevard, just to meet the band and get their John Hancocks' (or is it Herbie Hancock), but it was well worth it. Anyone that is getting to see them at any stop on the upcoming tour is a flat out lucky s.o.b. This was a great experience, and it looks as though the entire tour is set to be one of the best. Setlist: Beware Passenger Minus Blindfold My Own Summer Digital Bath Cherry Waves Hole in the Earth Change (in the house of flies) - reed ------------------------------------- Just like the old days, small stage and beautiful crisp music. This is the only way to see the Deftones and they couldn't have picked a better way to ring in their new shit. Virgin packed 600 people into a very small area and just about everyone had a camera. As soon as the Tones took the stage it was on. The crowd pushed forward 15 feet and the fight was on to get to the front. The place quickly became hot and steamy with the crowd jumping and pushing. A pit was attempted but did not sustain life. The only thing I would have changed is to have Chino in the crowd spilling his lungs on everyone. The set included Change, Passenger, Minus Blindfold, Beware, Hole in the Earth, Cherry Waves, and My Own Summer (Shove It). There may have been another one but my head is still foggy. The new shit is tight. Abe is brilliant on Hole in the Earth. After the show we lined up and got to get the new shit, meet the boys, and get them to sign the new CD. Chino had one of his sons with him while he was signing. It's good to live in Cali! -El Hefe
